Keighley Cougars can today confirm the departure of Sonny Esslemont from the club.
The Scottish internatonal joined the club ahead of the 2016 season following his release from the Hull Kingston Rovers and made five appearances for the club, the final of which came in July’s defeat away at the Rochdale Hornets.
Sonny also made four appearances for the reserves side, scoring four tries including a brace away at Hull FC in a Man of the Match performance.
Toward the back end off the season though, the second-row forward’s work commitments restricted his training and playing time and the decision was made mutually between the player and club to release him from his contract.
Esslemont has since signed with Hull-based amateur outfit Bransholme Dales.
