Keighley Cougars can this evening confirm details for the 2018 Joe Phillips Memorial Trophy fixture.
The pre-season contest against League One and local rivals Bradford Bulls will take place at the Provident Stadium, Odsal on Sunday 11th February.
The game, which will kick off at 3pm, will be both sides final pre-season friendly ahead of the League One campaign which begins the following weekend.
Craig Lingard’s side are the current holders of the trophy after twice clawing back 12 point deficits at Cougar Park in January before #ThatManAgain Matty Beharrell slotted over the winning drop goal to secure a 25-24 victory in the dying moments of the encounter.
Cougars Chairman Gary Fawcett said of the friendly: “We were approached by the Bulls to play this year’s Joe Phillips Memorial Trophy fixture at Odsal and we were more than happy to accept the offer.
“It will really show where both teams are heading into the new League One season as it will be both’s final pre-season game ahead of the new season and will be treated as close to a competitive fixture as possible.
“The Cougars are renowned for being among the best supported away from home in League One and we hope our fans will travel in force to back the boys as we look to make sure the trophy stays at Cougar Park!”
Bradford Bulls Co-owner Andrew Chalmers added: “We’re really happy to be going toe to toe with the Cougars once again, last time we played them it was a great contest.
“Going over to Cougar park in January, just days after the club formed was a tough challenge for us, although we are in a much stronger position now.
“We are hoping for a large turnout between the two sets of fans to come view the spectacle. I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic game.”
