Featherstone Rovers v Keighley Cougars Preview by Joshua Chapman (@Chapalar) in association with A1 Stairlifts.
After the disappointing defeat at the hands of Batley on Sunday, things don’t get any easier for the Cougars as they travel to Featherstone for this Good Friday fixture.
Paul March will take his side to the Big Fellas still missing influential prop Andy Shickell, who is set to not feature yet again with a stress fracture in his foot.
Buster (Groin) and Ash Lindsay (Leg) will miss out yet again with Danny Lawton, who failed a late fitness test ahead of Batley, and Jack Lee pushing for a return to the match day seventeen.
Elliot Cosgrove’s return to the centres provides hope to a dangerous looking Cougars backline as he looks to rekindle his partnership with James Haley which looked deadly at times towards the end of the 2013 campaign.
Featherstone coach John Bastian brings his side into the game second in the table and on the back of a 38-18 victory away at Barrow last weekend.
No new injury concerns for the hosts means there is a possibility of an unchanged side for the third successive game for a team which contains the likes of Gareth Moore and Will Sharp.
And with a run of results which features the victory at Barrow as well as a 76-0 thrashing of the North Wales Crusaders in the Challenge Cup, the Rovers will be the fancied team this Friday night.
But post Batley, Marchy said: “We’ll be going to Featherstone as underdogs and looking to cause a shock. I wouldn’t write us off and either should anyone else.”
One thing for sure this Easter weekend, the Cougars should only be written off ahead of the trip to Featherstone at your peril.
For fans attending this Friday’s fixture at the Big Fellas Stadium, the game will kick off at 19:45 with prices at £17 Adults, £10 Concessions & £5 for Children.
