Keighley Cougars can this evening announce the signing of Eze Harper.
Harper, who can play in the centres or on the wings, joins the club after being released by the Leigh Centurions after they secured promotion to the Super League following a second placed finish in the 2016 Qualifiers.
Eze scored 1 try in 3 appearances for Leigh in 2016 but is no stranger to League One having scored 11 tries in 12 appearances during a loan spell with the Barrow Raiders, featuring in the Raiders Play-Off Final defeat at the hands of Toulouse Olympique.
Harper scored in both of Barrow’s victories against the Cougars last season, bagging a try in both the 32-34 victory at Cougar Park and then again in the 26-18 win at the JF Hornby Stadium.
The utility back turned down a number of offers from other clubs prior to signing with the Cougars and was in attendance for the 82-12 victory over the Hunslet Warriors the Sunday previous.
Head Coach Craig Lingard said: “The addition of Eze fills the gap I’ve been looking to fill in the centre position and adds more depth to our squad.
“He has pedigree coming from a successful full time environment at Leigh Centurions and a proven record when it comes to tryscoring in the Championship with Leigh and then in League One during his loan spell last season with Barrow.
“With Adam Ryder signing last week, the competition for places in the centres is now there and I’m sure he will be a welcome addition to the squad and to the club.”
Eze has been assigned the 33 jersey and we look forward to seeing him in action at Cougar Park.
