Keighley Cougars are delighted to announce the signing of Perry Whiteley for the remainder of the 2018 season.
Whiteley, who can play in the centres or back-row, arrives at Cougar Park following his release from the Sheffield Eagles following the conclusion of the 2017 season.
During his sole year in South Yorkshire, Whiteley scored 1 try in 17 appearances as the Eagles finished runners-up in the Championship Shield for the second consecutive season.
Prior to his year with Mark Aston’s side, Dewsbury born Perry started his Rugby League career coming through the youth ranks at the Huddersfield Giants after being picked up by their scholarship programme at the age of 15.
After being released by the Giants, Whiteley moved to Australia where he spent two seasons with Young RL in Country Rugby League prior to returning home to England in the 2015 season and signing with Workington Town.
The utility man spent two seasons at Derwent Park in which time he made 39 appearances in Town colours, scoring 14 tries, prior to departing for Sheffield following the Cumbrian sides relegation from the Championship at the conclusion of 2016.
Whiteley has been allocated the number 34 jersey for the remainder of the 2018 season.
The Cougars are delighted to welcome Perry to Cougar Park and look forward to seeing him take the field in Keighley colours.
