Chairman – Gary Fawcett – email:

GF“Managing a rugby club like Keighley Cougars is never easy.  The expectations are always high,  dilemmas abound and challenges constantly present themselves.  Our Mission is to be one of the best rugby league teams in the country (measured by success on the pitch) by 2018 and our Vision is to ensure we remain one of the best.  This is a very challenging Mission and we are very lucky to have such a great on and off field team (below) to give us the best chance of achieving it!”

“Rugby League is in my blood having almost being brought up at Keighley Albion!  Both brothers played for the club and brother Don and Dad Allan also played for Keighley. I have been coming down to Keighley since the 1950s but more regularly since 1989 so coming up to my 25thyear. I try to help the club in many ways as it really is a vital part of the community. I am able help even more since I took early retirement and I come down a couple of mornings each week and try and keep the dressing rooms spick and span. I also help to compile the match programme, something I have been doing since 1996. It’s just nice to be part of the big Cougar ‘family’.”

photo (14)I have been a volunteer since before Cougarmania, when the club asked for volunteers to do some painting, that’s when my family and I and some friends spent most of the summer painting the stand,  and other parts of  the ground. Since then I have continued to offer my help to the club and Directors.  I now get involved as much as possible with most of this being inrepairs, maintaining and updating equipment on the site. I am passionate about the club and get great satisfaction from volunteering and hope  I am in someway helping the them.

I am the club Historian and Statistician at Keighley Cougars. I have only missed a handful of Keighley games since I began watching in the early 1970’s and I have visited over 100 grounds. I am a keen collector of Keighley memorabilia especially match programmes and I helped to run the matchday shop at the ground for thirty years. I have managed to trace all of the Keighley players careers back to the first ever season as a senior club in 1900-01. I also contribute to the match programme.
