Lewis Davey joined the Keighley Cougars in November 2015 after being one of the successful players selected following the open trials for the Reserves team.
A Geordie by birth, Lewis came through the youth set-up at the Cramlington Rockets and was a part of the Newcastle Thunder first team in 2015 prior to departing the club in order to further his education at Leeds Trinity University.
His debut year in the reserves was a successful one as he was the sides only ever present and impressed with his lionheart performances throughout a difficult season on and off the field for the Cougars second string and was invited to intially train with the first team by then Coach Paul March.
Following the appointment of Craig Lingard, Davey’s efforts for 2016 were rewarded as he was crowned the Reserve teams Player and Players’ Player of the Year and offered a trial with option for a contract with the first team by Lingard.
Davey was also a part of the 2016 GB Pioneers tour of Hungary in which he featured in all of the Pioneers games in both the 13 and 7 a-side formats of the game.
