Josh Casey

Josh CaseyPROFILE:

Josh Casey is a young centre who joined the Cougars in 2015 as a part of the reserves grade side.

After an impressive 2015 season with the reserves, Casey made his senior debut for the Cougars in October 2016 as a youthful line-up fell to a brave defeat at Cougar Park to the Welsh national team in the Danny Jones Memorial Game.

Previously with the Bradford Bulls, Casey was no stranger to Academy Director Frank Levy, who was quick to pick the young back up for the club.

Whilst the reserves had a terrible year on the pitch, only winning one game with a depleted squad, Casey did enough to impress Head Coach Paul March who awarded Josh with a one year first team deal for the 2016 season.

And with first team opportunities lacking, Casey continued to impress with the Reserves as he captained the side throughout 2016 as they challenged themselves against Super League opposition in the likes of St Helens, Warrington Wolves and Hull FC.

Casey was then handed the number 3 jersey for 2017 by new Head Coach Craig Lingard, finally earning the nod of approval to establish himself as a regular in the first team.
