James Pickering

James Pickering arrived at Cougar Park in November 2016 on a trial basis after being handed an opportunity by Head Coach Craig Lingard.

Coming through the youth ranks at amateur outfit Dewsbury Celtic, he only began playing Rugby League at the age of 13 before being picked up aged just 16 by then Super League outfit, the Bradford Bulls.

A utility who can play in the centres, back row or on the wing, Pickering joined the Bulls Scholarship programme ahead of the 2014 season and remained with the Odsal club until the end of the 2016 season where he was released after failing to earn a first team contract.

Prior to beginning his Rugby career, James was a talented Judo player and was a runner-up in the Reporters Series’ 2009 Junior Male Performance of the Year Award.
