Keighley Cougars Head Coach Craig Lingard is to give reserves duo Aidan Scully and Gavin Reed an opportunity to earn first team deals for the 2018 season.
Both Scully and Reed have been training with the first team this season with Scully making his debut in the 30-30 draw away at Workington while Reed has been named in 3 of this season’s 19 man squads but is yet to debut for the first team.
Scully, a utility who can play in a number of positions, joined the Cougars Reserves ahead of the 2016 season and his unorthodox playing style impressed both spectators and coaches alike and he impressed on his first team debut last month at Workington, setting up Andy Gabriel’s first try despite breaking a finger.
Reed, a Prop Forward, joined the Reserves this year and the former Aberdeen Warrior was a part of Nathan Graham’s Scotland Students World Cup squad last month as they reached the semi-finals with Reed himself named at 10 in the Team of the Tournament for his individual performances.
Linners has invited both players to train with the first team during the next pre-season with pay as you play deals and a place in the first team squad for 2018 on offer to the duo should they impress the Head Coach.
