Forward Brendon Rawlins is urging all the Cougar Support to make the long trip to Cumbria and get behind the team in this Sundays game at Craven Park against the Barrow Raiders .
‘It’s always a tough tough away trip’ he commented ‘The Barrow Fans can be very vocal and it would be great to see and hear the Cougar Fans make their presence felt and really give the boys a lift ‘
For Rawlins (right vBarrow May 2014) ,Sundays game as well as being vital for the Cougars Play off chances, will have
a special significance ‘ My Mum will be over from Australia and will be there for the game ‘ he explained ‘ It’ll be the first chance she’s had to see me play for some while so obviously I want to make the game a memorable one .
Two tries from Danny Lawton helped the Cougars to a 27-18 win when the two sides last met back in May at Cougar Park and some poor results have seen Barrow , coached now by former GB half back , Bobbie Goulding , already condemmed to life in Championship One next season , their relegation confirmed with a loss against Dewsbury at the end of July.
Coach Goulding has already courted controversy , making a comeback to playing in his early 40’s and then after incidents in the match against Doncaster , finding himself banned for five matches for abusing a match official.Despite Barrows lowly league position they have quality in the shape of Liam Harrison , the giant second rower has stuck loyally with his home town club and is on his day one of the best players outside Super League.
Cougars Coach Paul March is well aware of the threat posed by the Raiders ‘ Barrow have nothing to lose ,in many ways that makes them very dangerous indeed’ he said.
March still has concerns over the fitness of Full Back James Craven and Hooker Luke Haigh but March himself despite still suffering the efffects of a torn bicep is expected to be in the line up.
‘We’re looking forward to the game and hopefully picking up the much needed three points’ he commented ‘We’re treating the end of season run in as a mini cup comp , we’ve done two round’s already and are on course for the final and hopefully a play off place,’
Kick off is 3pm at Craven Park
