Keighley Cougars are delighted to announce the signing of Benn Hardcastle from Newcastle Thunder for the 2018 season.
Hardcastle becomes Craig Lingard’s first new signing ahead of the 2018 season and arrives at Cougar Park following four years in the North East either side of a year with the York City Knights in 2014 after coming through the youth system at Hull Kingston Rovers.
A considerable threat with his ability with ball in hand an from the kicking tee, Benn is the Thunder’s all time record points scorer after breaking Paul Thorman’s previous record inside just 55 games with a club and currently has a total of 568 points for the Kingston Park outfit heading into the final two games of the season.
This season has also seen the half-back set the Newcastle club record for points in a game as he registered 28 of the side’s 52 in a victory away at Oxford RL in June.
During his career Hardcastle has been no stranger to silverware, especially at this level of the game, previously winning the League One Leaders Shield in 2014 with the Knights and the League One Shield in 2016 with the Thunder.
Away from the field, the Cougars newest signing works within the foundation at current Kingstone Press Championship side Hull Kingston Rovers as a Senior Coach in Education and Play Touch Rubgy League.
The club are excited to welcome Benn to Cougar Park and look forward to seeing him in Red, White and Green next season.
