Cougars Re-Sign Josh Lynam

Keighley Cougars can this evening announce that Josh Lynam has re-signed with the club ahead of the 2015 season.

Josh had originally departed the club following relegation to sign with Queensland Cup side Norths Devils in Australia but returned to the country just before Christmas and re-joined his teammates for pre-season training this evening. (6th January)

Media Manager Joshua Chapman spoke to Josh at training this evening and ‘Lyny’ had the following to say:

On re-joining the Cougars:

“It’s a great club and it’s a club I have supported all my life and played for, for many years now. When I came back from Australia, there was only one place I was playing my rugby and it was the Keighley Cougars. I’ve played with pretty much the entire team at one point or another so to come back into a squad full of great lads I’ve known for a long time makes coming back so much easier.”

On Cougars chances in 2015:

“Promotion is the bare minimum for the club this season. Cougar Park should be a fortress and when we play away we will have to prepare ourselves mentally for each away game as  you can’t travel the 600 miles to play South Wales away just expecting to win because every game will be tough, I can imagine a lot of the lads taking Monday’s off this year!”

On Australia:

“I had VISA problems and was struggling to find employment outside of Rugby and money certainly doesn’t grow on trees down there so the only real option I had was to come home.”

On Cougars League One Rivals:

“Rochdale Hornets have a very strong squad, Danny Bridge is an absolutely outstanding signing for this level. Swinton Lions have recruited well also and have a good mix of experienced players with exciting young players but I think we should be far too strong for the vast majority of sides in the division.”

Great news. Josh was an outstanding player last year. Let’s not get too cocky about promotion. Keighley have always played well against better sides and seem to switch off against poorer teams. Keep switched on this year!
