Keighley Cougars v Swinton Lions Match Preview by Joshua Chapman (@Chapalar) in Association with A1 Starilifts.
Only a fortnight on from the intense battle which ensued in the Cougars Challenge Cup victory, Keighley and Swinton meet again at Cougar Park with points at stake on this occasion.
Following last week’s phenomenal performance which brought about the 40-20 victory over the Dewsbury Rams, Paul March could find himself with a headache over the selection process ahead of this Sunday.
Despite the faultless performance, James ‘Buster’ Feather (Groin), James Haley (Back), Ash Lindsay (Broken Leg) and Andy Shickell (Stress Fracture) all are available for selection following injury.
But speaking following the victory over the Rams last weekend, Marchy is wary over the different sort of threat posed by the visitors: “Swinton didn’t have any dual reg’ players in the last game and we’re not sure who they’ll have available this weekend. They could bring pretty much anyone in from Warrington, so we have to concentrate on ourselves.”
For the opposition this coming weekend, they dual registration partnership with the Warrington Wolves may have to be called upon more than ever.
The clubs financial problems in the run up to the current campaign means an already threadbare squad suffers from any sort of injury but despite the absence of Steve Lewis, Mick Nanyn does return.
Lions Player-Coach Ian Watson said: “We only played them two weeks ago so it’s an interesting game. We’ll see if we’ve learned a thing or two from that game, because we did some good things but were poor in a couple of tries we conceded.”
The special pre-book ticket offer available for this fixture to both supporters of the Cougars and Lions expires at midnight on Friday (9th May). So, if you’re attending this weekend don’t forget to book now to avoid the matchday price rise!
